Portraits:
Gary Stauffer
These portraits are of my grandpa, Gary Stauffer, taken at the lodge of our church where we meet for youth group, a big part of both of our lives. When asked what he stands for, he said "for loving people and helping them be the best they can be." Gary believes he is perceived by others as an open person, who is very easy to talk to. In his lifetime he hopes to see his grandkids grow up to be happy and fulfilled. In response to the open-ended question of who are you, he said "a fervent follower of Jesus Christ."
Jason Hires
Jason Hires is an Ann Arbor senior of Huron high school, known for his crazy swimming and water polo abilities. He stands for hard work to get to where you want to be, and believes people perceive him as "kind of intimidating." In reality I think he is perceived as a very genuine person. His aspirations for his lifetime include "becoming a good man and a leader." He emphasized the fact that leadership is very important to him, and added that he hopes to complete military school and have a family. When asked "who are you?" he responded "A student athlete who values relationships."
Isabel Brush Mindell
Isabel is a Skyline senior, and her portraits were taken at the Alhambra gardens in Spain. She stands for women and equality, a strong advocate for women's rights. She believes people perceive her as very tall, with a goofy personality. In her lifetime Isabel hopes to be happy however that happens, and to have a job she enjoys. She is a girl who is passionate about playing sports, and loves to make stupid jokes and hang out with friends.
Maya Cristian
Maya Cristian is one of my best friends, pictured above both posed and candidly, outside of our church lodge. She stands for compassion and friendship, and claims people probably perceive her as very quiet. I would like to add that she is also perceived as very kind and a good listener for many people! She hopes in her lifetime to help make the people around her feel empowered. In response to "who are you?" Maya deemed herself "a caregiver who helps people in need."
Kristin Wagner
Kristin is a friend and mentor of many years, serving as a leader with our class of students in youth group for the past five years. Kristin stands for the fact that everyone deserves respect and care no matter who they are or their history. She believes people perceive her as very outgoing and happy. She is also perceived as a very caring person who reaches out to anyone. Her aspirations are to have a part in resolving injustive and lifting people up. She is "a Christian, a daughter, a friend, and a sister."
